Merry Christmas from the Streetworks team

It has been another great year, and we couldn’t have done it without you! Our last event for the year was our October 31st HamSouth combined, where volunteers gathered together and got involved in the community, taking part in running a Whanau day, supporting people in garden and street cleanup, and spending time at a local retirement home. Thanks so much to everyone involved, including the volunteers, project leaders, participants and the multiple organisations in the community who supported us in this event and throughout the year.

While the team here at Streetworks will be taking a break over this summer festive season, we look forward to the New Year and all that it will bring. We do not have any dates set for events next year, but please do not hesitate to contact us with your interest or needs as these will help develop plans for 2016, and we will stay in touch when opportunities do come up.

A note from Stella, a first-time Streetworks volunteer and co-project leader for the Whanau day.
I become involved in Streetworks through my flatmate Becca who was the main leader of the group, and she really encouraged me to get involved and help serve our community. It was the first time I had been involved in a Streetworks event and I was super excited for the experience of serving and volunteering. When she asked me to be a project leader for the whanau day which she had been really inspired to do, I was more than happy to be involved.
The highlight of the experience was seeing all our planning and organising come together well, with a massive turnout and families enjoying the day. It’s quite stressful leading up to the event but when it all comes together it is really satisfying. I loved seeing a community being brought together and having such a great time
